What it takes to succeed in having more time and energy is a plan.
You deserve to have more time for yourself and family.
You deserve to have more energy and not allow others to take it away from you.
You deserve to be in the ruler of your own time and not let others control you.
You deserve to be happy, confident and have a sense of achievement.
In order to achieve all these, you need a plan. Let us start with a checklist and tutorial:
1) Define your goals.
List your goals for the year or a fixed time frame you have given yourself. Ask yourself pointed questions. Be as specific as possible.
2) Generate your to-do list with your goals in mind.
No holds barred ! Just go ahead and list all those things you have been wanting to do, needing to and having to do. Do not forget to go along the lines of the goals you have set forth prior. If it is a huge project, break them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. This will not intimidate you and cause you to delay in commencing.
3) Categorize the tasks in your to-do list over a period of time.
Set a time frame for each of those tasks you have listed. You can categorize them over the period stated - yearly, monthly, weekly and daily. Always refer back to the list to help you stay focused and check off those you have accomplished.
4) Prioritize them based on their importance versus urgency.
Prioritize all tasks listed according to their importance. Assign them in ascending order, with the smallest number being the most important and urgent. Focus on accomplishing the top ten tasks before moving on. Constantly review the list. It is definitely not cast in stone. Subject them to
change.
5) Delegate work or hire resources to manage "should-do" tasks with little importance.
Based on the "80/20" rule, it is true that most of the "should-do" tasks will take up 80% of your effort, but yet accomplish only 20% of your success. You must learn to delegate to your assistant, other family members or even consider hiring external resource. It will save you loads of time to focus on the vital few.
6) Focus, Focus, Focus.
Never allow yourself to lose sight of your objectives - goals, your to-do lists and the assigned time frame for each task. Stay focused on the task in hand and do not multitask.
